The Creation of a Pediatric Health Care Learning Network

THE ACTION QUALITY IMPROVEMENT COLLABORATIVE

How has collaboration improved outcomes for children with congenital heart disease (CHD) and heart failure? What current gaps exist in care and methodology? Co-Founder and Co-Director of ACTION, Angela Lorts, published “The Creation of a Pediatric Health Care Learning Network: The ACTION Quality Improvement Collaborative” in the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs Journal in 2020. It’s all about how ACTION was developed. Learn how ACTION’s organizational structure and use of real-world data allows for quick change in regulatory practice and, ultimately, improves outcomes in pediatric heart failure care.

Using her knowledge and experience with ACTION and learnings from the Cincinnati Children’s Quality Improvement Networks, Dr. Lorts has gone on to help inform the creation of other learning networks outside of pediatric cardiology. In a July 2019 report in Pediatric Transplantation, the diverse team of researchers discussed the formation of a learning health network for pediatric liver transplantation.
