Mortality Calculator
To use the below calculator, fill in the most recent variables about your patient, closest to the timing of implant.
The calculator will estimate mortality based on preimplant risk factors. This calculator is based on ACTION data and gives a general consensus of risk prediction. It should be used as a tool by providers in ACTION for the purpose of quality improvement. It should only be used to manage expectations and plan for potential complications that may occur. Knowing that a patient is at high risk should heighten awareness and improve outcomes of these critically ill children.
This calculator is valid for Dilated Cardiomyopathy/Myocarditis (DCM/Myocarditis) and Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). Other diagnoses, such as restrictive or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, are not featured in the calculator currently due to small sample sizes.
Additionally, if you enter combinations of values that are rarely encountered in clinical practice, results may not be reliable. Examples: Patient weight of 2.2kg, or patient on ECMO but not mechanical ventilation.
This model is based upon data from 1,314 patients with 194 mortalities. The AUC is 95.4%
